Vinoble is proud to be the importer of Ronco del Gelso Hong Kong. The Badin family has owned and operated 25 hectares of vineyards in the plains to the South of Cormons, in North-Eastern Italy for over 20 years. Their first bottle was produced in 1988 when Giorgio Badin, after studying agronomy, changed the course of the family winery, with his own ideas and philosophy, applying the knowledge he had acquired. An expert in areas of ampeleography and clonal selection, he also pioneered the use of hyperoxidation during the fermenting process. The result were wines which offered great pleasure on first release - as well as an elevated aging capacity. The DOC Isonzo appellation, where Ronco del Gelso is located, is particularly known for Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay and Sauvignon - varieties that feature prominently in the overall line-up of the Ronco del Gelso wines. Fine examples of Friulano, Malvasia and Riesling are also produced, as well as a unique and well-conceived blend of Friulano, Pinot Bianco, Riesling and Traminer, called “Latimis”. Red grape varietals are also of particular interest to Giorgio Badin. Two fine examples are offered: a fresh Cabernet for young drinking and a riper, fuller and more complex Merlot called “Sintesi dei Capitoli”.
