Vinoble is proud to be the importer of Vilarnau Cavas Hong Kong. The estates Cavas date from 1949 and were located in the town centre of Sant Sadurni D’Anoia, 40km from the city of Barcelona. In 1982 it became part of the Gonzalez Byass family of wines. The vineyards where the winery is currently located were bought in 1990 and in 2005 a new winery was inaugurated. The name derives from the old Vilarnau castle, which can be found on the banks of the river Anoia, which formed part of the Subirats castle, where the vineyards can be found today. The Vilarnau estate is situated 6km outside of Sant Sadurni D’Anoia, in the highest point of the area Espiells, 200m above sea level. High altitudes contribute to a slower maturation of the grapes, which produces wines of higher acidity and contribute to a more balanced ageing. The estate is nestled at the foot of the Montserrat mountain range, where the vineyards experience a mediterranean climate, as they are protected from the cold winds of the Pyrenees by the Montserrat mountains in the north and in the south by the Serrelada coastline. The soil is formed by a lime-arcillous layer which provides a balanced base for the vines.
